VERIFIED CHAMPIONS NETWORK DOCUMENTS SUSTAINABILITY AT LONDON MARATHON

As part of a TikTok-backed sustainability initiative, a team of creators attended this year's London Marathon to showcase the event's climate action efforts.

Zero-waste energy bars with edible wrappers, eco-friendly water refill stations and a 'Peeing for the Planet' initiative converting runner waste into fertiliser, were a few of the sustainability measures documented by the Verified Champions initiative at London Marathon this year.

The Verified Champions network, a global group of creators and experts, gained access to the event to engage with 'Team Green', a group of sustainability-focused runners.

They documented how the marathon, which saw over 55,000 participants, integrated sustainability measures while maintaining the participant experience. Other initiatives included recycling stations for discarded clothes and efforts to reduce single-use plastic.

The Verified Champions network, which includes over 90 creators across five countries, is supported by TikTok, Fortescue and Rockefeller, and aims to counter misinformation around climate change.
