ACER CSR CAMPAIGN TACKLES PLASTIC WASTE

Acer has partnered with not-for-profit Plastic Bank with the goal of collecting 50 tonnes of plastic in oceans. The CSR initiative hopes to prevent 2.5 million plastic bottles from entering the ocean.

Acer is an ICT company with a large global presence. Its partnership with not-for-profit Plastic Bank, which focuses on fighting plastic pollution in oceans, plans to collect 50 tons of plastic in oceans. With a community of collectors in Southeast Asia, this effort hopes to prevent 2.5 million plastic bottles from entering the ocean.

The collected plastic is brought to Plastic Bank in exchange for local market price of gathered materials as well as bonuses. These bonuses include access to social benefits like meal vouchers or health insurance. These efforts help support the local community and incentivises clean-up efforts.

On top of this collaboration, Acer is trying to address its use of plastics within electronic products with new Vero line. The Vero line attempts to be eco-conscious with commitment to carbon neutrality with the first carbon neutral PC, the Acer Aspire Vero 16.

Acer hopes to position the brand as environmentally conscious attitude and promote its long term sustainability practices.
