SAMSUNG’S NEW PARTNERSHIP TARGETS GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL CLUBS

Samsung UK is partnering with The Elephant Room to devise a grassroots football campaign, supporting clubs through use of Samsung tech

Samsung UK has partnered with creative agency The Elephant Room to support local football teams in refining their brand management through use of Samsung technology.

The Grassroots Academy campaign will run from late summer and provide support to five local football clubs, using Samsung technology with the aim of improving the clubs’ creative and digital skills.

Local football clubs are in crisis following the pandemic, with 96% of UK clubs seeing a reduction in income in the last year; of the 43,000 active UK clubs, 12% say closure is inevitable. Samsung’s The Grassroots Academy campaign will use masterclasses and workshops to help clubs refine their brand and content management.

The Elephant Room is hoping the partnership will bring an inclusive approach to its UK brand communications, as part of Samsung’s commitment to #DoWhatYouCant promise.

Amy Campbell, Director of Corporate Marketing at Samsung UK, says: “As partner, The Elephant Room offers incredibly guidance in how brands can be more inclusive and play a more meaningful role in our audience’s lives.

“We are excited to be launching The Grassroots Academy which will help local football teams to grow their brand and following.”

The Grassroots Academy is open to all UK-based adult football teams. Training will use Samsung technology to learn how to create a brand, content creation, digital publishing, how to build a following, and product training.

Dan Saxby, Managing Director and co-founder of The Elephant Room, says: “We’re delighted to help Samsung play an authentic and meaningful role within communities across the UK.”

Football teams are encouraged to apply to be one of the five clubs supported by Samsung’s campaign through submitting a creative 60-second film, shared via Instagram.
