THE INDUSTRIES BEST SUITED TO REMOTE WORKING

Legal experts, Wright Hassall, researched which industries have best adapted to remote working during the pandemic and which sectors are recruiting for remote roles post lockdown.

Despite Rishi Sunak’s warning that businesses will face losing staff if they resist returns to the office, many businesses are still opting to work entirely remotely.

Research from energy comparison site, Save on Energy, has found several benefits of working from home, included increased productively, flexibility and overhead financial savings. It also found that on average, Brits saved £867 during the first months of lockdown.

Wright Hassall has analysed the recent job postings on Indeed to collate a list of the UK’s fastest growing sectors adapting and recruiting for work from home positions.

IT ranked top with 40% of new job listings being for remote positions. Leading careers offering work from home flexibility in the IT sector include data analyst and SEO specialist.

Creative industries followed with social media and digital marketing with 32.3% of new roles being remote. Content creation ranked third with 31.8% of new recruits looking to work from home.

The least adaptable sector was ecommerce with just 2% of roles offering remote positions. This was closely followed by construction at 3% and real estate at 6%. Top remote positions in these sectors include site manager and general labourer in construction, and sales negotiator and property surveyor in real estate.

The research, commissioned by Wright Hassall, analysed the fastest growing job sectors in the UK as reported by LinkedIn and appropriate job role in each sector on Prospects, before using Indeed to search for remote positions on 14 April 2021.
