FILM ADDRESSES TEXTING AND DRIVING DANGERS
The National Safety Council reports that texting and driving leads to 1.6m collisions and over 3,000 deaths each year in the United States. According to a poll carried out by US driving association AAA, 97% of teenage drivers understand and know of the dangers of texting and driving. However, 35% admitted to texting and driving regardless.
System1 Agency, an advertising agency, in partnership with UNIT9, a global production partner, created an emotional short film to change people’s attitudes and behaviours around texting and driving.
The film depicts a couple’s young love being brought to a premature end due to texting and driving. The film evokes most emotion by placing possible long term commitments between the young couple, creating an attachment to the characters. The text conversation regarding these commitments is brought to a tragic end with the phrase “there’s no next if you text” appearing across the screen. “This important film uses emotional storytelling to shed light on an issue that affects the lives of so many people across the globe,” says Paul Spriggs, president of System1 Agency.
With System1 Agency’s knowledge and expertise in behavioural science, the film has every intention of impacting viewers emotions in hopes of triggering a behavioural change when it comes to texting and driving. The short film was shared across social media platforms in order to attract attention and awareness.
