INAUGURAL EVCOM SCREEN AWARDS NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

Known to the world for 26 years as the IVCA Awards, this year’s marks the arrival of the EVCOM Screen Awards, the first of the EVCOM-branded awards events. The EVCOM era has, since its official merger in January 2014, drawn the live events and corporate video industries closer together. The Screen Awards, to be held on 27 March at the Grosvener House Hotel, will be followed by the EVCOM Experience Awards, replacing the Eventia Awards, and the EVCOM Clarion Awards.

This year’s spate of shortlisted nominees includes ever-lauded agencies like the Edge Picture Company, which is nominated for seven projects, alongside newer entrants like Gorilla Gorilla!, a London-based animation company up for its lively, helpful Infobot video for Informa.

Marco Forgione, EVCOM CEO says, “The inaugural EVCOM Screen Awards has built on the success of the previous IVCA Awards. These awards focus on the quality and value of film in helping brands and organisations build emotionally impactful communications. The quality of entries has been outstanding and as the shortlist reveals we’ve had a fantastic selection of entries from right across the industry. I’m really looking forward to the awards dinner on 27 March at the Grosvenor House Hotel where we’ll be revealing the winners.”

Last year’s winners featured a number of films created for public sector or not-for-profit clients, a trend which has continued in this year’s shortlist. A few videos developed for the armed forces also received nods this year. GROSVENERFILM, which has a long-standing relationship with the Army, was shortlisted for its ‘Army Officer Reserve Recruiting Presentation’ and BFBS Television got a nod for ‘PARA Platoon: Earning the Maroon Beret.’

The awards were judged by an expert panel at the Kia Oval last week. In the past, the benchmark set by the EVCOM (or IVCA) Screen Awards has expanded to recognise excellence in film, television and video, but also in digital media and film based on social media – as was the 2012 Grand Prix winner, Streaming Tank’s ‘Topshop Facebook App’.
