SAUDI ARABIAN COFFEE COMPANY MAKEOVER

Popular Middle Eastern coffee, herb and spice company Bafarat is on the brink of revealing its transformation from a family-owned Saudi-based business into a global brand, orchestrated by international design company Blacksheep.

Tim Mutton, founder of Blacksheep explained that Bafarat, “has a vision which embraces an international focus and it is our role to support them in this evolution.”

The strategy will be carried from corporate identity through to stationery, product packaging, collateral, website design, signage and interiors, the reveal of which is set to coincide with the autumn flagship and coffee shop launch in Jeddah.

Lead designer Annette Dennis commented: “We took inspiration from the rich heritage of Bafarat’s homeland and the culture of Saudi Arabia, renowned for its philosophy of contrasts. A driving force was the concept, ‘rich history, modern delivery,’ creating a fine balance between modern and traditional.”

The Bafarat brand was established in 1952 and has been kept in the family ever since, they are hoping that the recent reinvention will maintain their Saudi Arabian heritage whilst giving it the freshness and modernity to make it a global competitor in the sector.
