THE IC CROWD LAUNCHES ON TWITTER
The IC Crowd, a new Twitter-based internal comms community, has gone live. Its aim is to connect the internal comms community with one another and with potential clients.
Users must simply tweet a question to @theICcrowd and the query will be retweeted to the community who will then, theoretically, supply an answer by tweet.
The project was conceived by Rachel Miller, Jenni Wheller and Dana Leeson over dinner last year, and launched this week.
Miller says about The IC Crowd, “Our channel of choice is Twitter. The IC community is thriving there and with so many connected and inspiring comms pros around, it makes sense to be the vehicle to bring the crowd together. Twitter is already such an integral part of people’s lives and we wanted to make it so you can get the answers to your questions as quickly as possible. We may branch out to other ways in future, but for now, it’s Twitter.”
This is very similar to the event that recruiters VMA Group have been running for most of 2012 called, coincidentally, The IC Crowd. The group holds meetings for communications professionals looking for advice and networking opportunities. The IC Crowd has met the IT Crowd.
