COPYRIGHT OR COPYWRONG?

A new online hub has been launched to help brands and communicators better understand copyright law, and to address topical issues around the subject.

Run by Communicate magazine, and sponsored by the PRCA and Meltwater Group, CommsCopyright.com will provide a forum for knowledge and discussion of copyright and IP law in corporate communications.

The site is advised by a board of experts in copyright issues: David Ashplant, partner at Lester Aldridge, covering tech, e-commerce and IT; James O'Flinn, specialist in commercial disputes and partner at Mundays LLP; Lilach Bullock, social media consultant and founder of Socialable.co.uk; Saskia Walzel from Consumer Focus; Steve Kuncewicz, IP, media & social media lawyer and head of legal at Boohoo.com; and Emily Goodhand, copyright and compliance officer at the University of Reading.

CommsCopyright will feature regular blogs and Q&As on copyright issues, as well as encouraging visitors to share their experiences, 'Ask the Experts', and contribute their own topics for disucssion.

Current blogposts on the site include:

File sharing and illegal downloads - remedies for copyright holders
Pinterest - the next Facebook or unlawful copyright infringement?
Copywrong for today's UK businesses

There will be a special #CommsChat on Monday 23rd July to mark the launch of CommsCopyright - keep an eye on the hashtag for details.
