Centrica plc is the first FTSE100 company to launch a web app as part of its corporate communications strategy.

The app, developed by The Group, has been fully optimised for all tablets and a range of mobile devices. This includes the iPad due to the growing audience accessing content through the device.

The app offers a range of content including corporate news, blog posts, share price, events calendar, publications, investor presentations and videos and is available to anyone online.

Simon Henderson, director of corporate responsibility and digital media Centrica plc, says: “The needs of our audiences are always evolving, so we’re very glad to make this new channel available and hope that they see it as adding value to our overall communications.

"We are particularly keen on having a platform that we can update quickly and easily through our existing systems and one that works across the widest range of devices.

Centrica’s app has been designed specifically with key audience groups in mind, including investors, the media, senior management and business partners.

The company was also the first in the FTSE100 to launch a corporate blog.
