COMMUNICATE MAGAZINE LAUNCHES REPUTATION IN OIL, GAS & MINING
Reputation in Oil, Gas and Mining is the first European conference to focus exclusively on reputational issues in oil, gas and mining. It brings together leading industry experts to share their experience, the lessons they’ve learnt, and strategies for the future.
The reputation of the oil, gas and mining sectors has been hit hard of late. From the high-profile crises of Deepwater Horizon and the Chilean miners to the background noise of NGOs voicing environmental and ethical concerns, 2010 has seen sentiment toward the extraction industries and energy sector sour.
But more effective engagement can help to rebuild reputations, shape the conversation, and improve sentiment – which is why Communicate magazine is holding Reputation in Oil, Gas and Mining, a new conference on 20 January 2011 aimed squarely at communicators in the extraction and energy sectors.
Delegates will leave Reputation in Oil, Gas and Mining with a renewed focus on their reputation, and armed with the tools, knowledge and contacts they need to position and protect their companies, their products and their brands.
The programme features sessions on strategy, CSR, legislation, press relations, transparency and social media, with speakers including David Bickerton, director of communications at BP, Nick Benwell from Simmons and Simmons (talking about the new Bribery Act), Vadim Saveliev, SVP of corporate communications at Severstal and Andrew Eddy, the former head of communications at Shell. The programme even includes the former editor of the Sun (talking about what to do when the press go feral).
