VODAFONE AND VIRGIN AMONG THE WINNERS OF THE CR REPORTING AWARDS
Companies were rewarded for their corporate responsibility reporting last night at the CR Reporting Awards 2010. Among the winners were Vodafone for Best Report, Virgin for Openness & Honesty and Hewlett-Packard for Best Carbon Disclosure.
Now in its third year, the CR Reporting Awards are the annual global awards for corporate responsibility reporting. They identify and acknowledge the best CR reports across nine categories, five of which are for specific ‘transparency aspects’ such as carbon disclosure.
This year, 128 companies from over 40 sectors, from well-known multinationals to local SMEs entered their reports across nine categories.
CorporateRegister.com’s managing director Paul Scott said: “We’ve seen growing interest among companies wishing to participate, and an even greater increase in voter participation. Despite the global recession, the growth rates in overall reporting and in first-time reporters slowed only marginally during 2009. More surprisingly, integrated reporting has yet to emerge as the great new trend, with very little growth from 2008 to 2009. For the moment, stand-alone reporting is still the chosen route.”
