NEW MEMBERS OF GRI’S GLOBAL STANDARD SETTING BOARD
GRI announced the new appointments to the global sustainability standards board (GSSB), reaffirming the commitment to a multi-stakeholder approach in the establishing of the GRI Standards, the leading global standard on ESG reporting.
On 1 January, six new members began their three year term. As members of the GSSB, they will work with the GRI Standards division to set globally accepted standards for sustainability reporting, in the public interest and according to the vision and mission of GRI.
The new members have been appointed by the Independent Appointments Committee (IAC) to represent the best available combination of technical expertise and diverse experience in sustainability reporting, with a focus on constituency, gender and regional balance. Helena Barton, IAC chair, says, “The Independent Appointments Committee believes that the new members of the GSSB will complement and support the variety of expertise needed for the board to carry out its duties and to uphold the strong multi-stakeholder nature of the GRI Standards.”
In 2019, the new members are:
- Corli le Roux (mediating institutions), independent specialist, South Africa
