THE GUARDIAN'S CHARLOTTE EMMERSON JOINS JUNGLE AS CMO
Jungle Creations bolsters team with senior execs from the Guardian and Time Out
Jungle Creations, one of the world’s most viewed companies on social media, announced three key hires. The Guardian’s Charlotte Emmerson will take on the company’s first CMO role, with Brave Bison’s Jonathan Kitchen joining as commercial director, and Time Out’s James Evans coming on board as CFO.
Set up by 27 year-old serial entrepreneur Jamie Bolding in 2014, Jungle Creations’ primary business is as a digital media owner, having created and commercialised some of Facebook’s most popular food, beauty and lifestyle brands such as VT and Twisted, amassing over 85m followers. Jungle Creations’ in-house award winning creative and production agency, Treehouse, has since gone on to conceptualise and distribute high-quality social media video content for some of the world’s biggest and most influential brands including Heinz, McDonald’s and Virgin, generating over 1.3bn views.
Newly appointed CMO Charlotte Emmerson will be tasked with driving greater awareness of Jungle Creations’ B2C social media brands amongst consumers and businesses via a marketing strategy and campaigns that will communicate Jungle’s offering. Prior to her appointment, Emmerson served as director of transformational marketing at the Guardian. During her six-year tenure, she supported the organisation’s transformation from a legacy media brand to a global digital news organisation. In her most recent role she advised and supported the change in business strategy to a reader revenue funded model and managed the marketing for the paper’s cost-saving transition from Berliner format to a tabloid.
Jungle Creations’ new commercial director Kitchen, who has held senior roles at Dennis Publishing, Brave Bison and LADbible – where he doubled the company’s commercial revenue during his tenure – brings 20 years of media, advertising and digital innovation experience and will oversee the full commercial offering in the UK and US. Time Out’s group financial planning & analysis director James Evans comes on board as CFO and will be providing greater financial insight into the business as it continues to grow.
Jamie Bolding, founder and CEO of Jungle Creations, says, “We’re excited to welcome a number of significant hires as we look to aggressively grow Jungle’s footprint worldwide. In particular, with Charlotte joining from a legacy media brand, her appointment is tangible proof of the confidence in new media generally and in us more specifically. They will be an asset to our 150-strong team, and their combined expertise will be instrumental in contributing to significant growth over the coming years.”
Emmerson adds, “Jungle Creations is a true media powerhouse and I’m looking forward to bringing together the different aspects of the business to drive greater affinity and awareness of its unique offering in the industry and amongst consumers.”
