MHP APPOINTS RUBY QUINCE AS CREATIVE DIRECTOR
MHP Communications has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of Ruby Quince as creative director. Ruby joins MHP with a brief to support creative work and drive integrated campaigns across the company.
He comes from Porter Novelli, where as creative director he developed award-winning campaigns for brands such as HP, Western Digital and Pfizer. He also led the winning pitch for the burger brand Rustlers last year.
Quince was also previously a board director at Freuds, heading up the digital practice and leading on the social and content-driven strategies for brands such as Pepsi, Galaxy, Tropicana and Guinness. He also oversaw the social activity for MINI during the Olympics and Gordon Ramsey’s UK restaurants, and the development of apps, content and campaigns for Public Health England and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Part of the dotcom boom in 2000, Quince founded the Itchy Guide series of youth city guides, websites and mobile guides. One of UK’s first mainstream social networks, these guides provided large volumes of user-generated content and location content to Vodafone, the London Underground and the Independent. The company was sold to an EMAP in 2006.
Quince’s appointment reflects CEO Alex Bigg’s growing ambitions for the company. Since joining the agency, he has embarked on a widescale shake-up of the senior team. In September, Nick Barron joined MHP as deputy CEO from Edelman, followed by Andy Bloxham who took over as head of the corporate affairs practice, Jamie Lyons who became joint head of public affairs alongside James Gurling, and Mike Robb from Cicero who is now head of financial services. Gemma Irvine was also recently promoted to head of brand, Kate Pogson to head of health and Rachel Rowson to head of health innovation.
The agency’s transformation programme has already seen the creation of a new financial services practice and a new media unit.
Quince says, “It’s a real privilege to join a team with so many smart and talented people. The teams are fizzing with energy and there’s a real sense of purpose and vision under Alex and his leadership team.”
Bigg adds, “I’m thrilled that Ruby has joined MHP at such an exciting time for the agency. Ruby has a track record of developing successful creative campaigns for well-known brands and I’m confident that he will bolster our creative power, helping us to deliver even bigger and more impactful campaigns for new and existing clients.”
