MCCANN BIRMINGHAM ADDS IN-HOUSE VIDEO DIRECTOR

McCann Birmingham has further strengthened its creative department with the significant appointment of Leif Johnson as video director. Johnson joins as the agency also announces a big investment in its in-house video production and editing facilities, giving clients access to a fully equipped and expertly staffed video production capability.

Johnson began his career as a video editor before progressing into directing. Since then he has created online content and successful commercial campaigns for high profile clients including Vauxhall, the ‘X’ Factor and Legal & General, while working at agencies including McCann London and JWT.

Johnson says, “With over 16 years’ experience working in production I can honestly say I have the best job in the world. I get the chance to craft different stories through one of the most popular multifaceted platforms we have, which can reach millions of people around the world, moving them, making them think and leaving a lasting impression. Nothing gets me more excited than working with exceptionally talented people. That’s why I jumped at the chance to work with the team at McCann Birmingham.”

Vince McSweeney, chief creative officer at McCann Birmingham, adds, “Having worked with Leif before I’ve seen first-hand what a great asset he’s going to be – for our team and especially for our clients. He brings real creative flair, a high level of craft expertise and above all, he’s great to work with. It is fantastic news for us.”

Investment in broadcast and editing capabilities to support Craft Central

McCann Birmingham has also extended its full service offering with a substantial investment in a new suite of production and editing facilities. Enabling close collaboration with clients throughout the whole production and post-production process, the new facilities include a colour grading and client viewing suite, an audio suite with purpose-built voiceover booth and four video work stations. The audio suite regularly connects to sound studios around the world to record voice overs remotely. Dedicated video servers enable fast project turnaround and sharing.

The investment supports McCann Birmingham’s own dedicated film department – Craft Central. It is a fully operational production and post production facility that generates a huge range of content in-house, including feature films, live TV, commercials and sports promo content.
