FUTUREBRAND LONDON COMPLETES MANAGEMENT LINE-UP
FutureBrand has appointed Dan Witchell as executive creative director of corporate and service brands for the award-winning London office.
His arrival coincides with the promotion of Simon Hill to managing director after two very successful years as general manager. Witchell will jointly lead the creative team with Marie-Thérèse Cassidy, executive creative director of consumer brands.
Over the last 18 years Witchell has developed a reputation for excellence in identity design, typography and broadcast. Highlights include groundbreaking work for S4C, rebrand of Dutch National broadcaster Nederland Eén, Twee and Drie and creation of the Syfy channel. Clients range from the outdoor advertising giants Clear Channel, to Getty Images and Digital Cinema Media through to global organisations such as NBCUniversal and Unilever.
Witchell’s interest and knowledge in design led him to become co-founder and curator of Kemistry Gallery — London’s only gallery dedicated to graphic design. Their exhibition ‘100 years of Graphic Design’ is the first step in an evolution into the National Centre for Graphic Design. Witchell sits on the committee alongside John L. Walters (editor, Eye magazine), Mark Bonner (president, D&AD) and Lynda Relph-Knight (former editor, Design Week).
Witchell has lectured on brand-related subjects and sat on the juries of competitions such as the D&AD and Promax BDA Awards. The recipient of many awards himself, his work has been featured in numerous brand publications and exhibitions throughout the world. Witchell’s work was exhibited at the ‘Art on Paper Since 1885’ GFSmith exhibition alongside work by Saul Bass, Peter Saville, Sir Peter Blake and Milton Glaser.
Nick Sykes, president EMEA at FutureBrand, says, “Dan brings with him a passion and drive for creative excellence that will be a great asset for us and our clients. We’re delighted with his arrival and together with Simon’s well deserved promotion, it caps a great year for FutureBrand.”
Witchell says, "I'm very much looking forward to working with some of the world’s most forward thinking brands. I plan to bring fresh, independent, creative thinking to an already extremely successful London team. My design values are optimism, simplicity and clarity and I hope to use these to influence forthcoming FutureBrand projects."
