MARGARET_ HIRED AS EXTERNAL COMMS AGENCY FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHER'S GALLERY

From 2017, London based agency Margaret_ have been secured as the external communications agency for the Photographers’ Gallery, a UK-based photography organisation and exhibition space, based in Soho, London.

Margaret_ will be responsible for developing a creative communications strategy, with an emphasis on PR and media relations, which positions the Photographers’ Gallery as the leading centre for debate and new thinking around photography and image culture.

The largest public gallery in London dedicated to photography, the mission of the Photographers’ Gallery is to champion photography for everyone and to reflect its cultural relevance and impact. Founded in 1971, its programme and projects explore the history, practice and evolution of the photographic medium and its relationship to society today.

Programme highlights for 2017 include the 20th edition of the annual Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize; an exhibition of rarely seen and overlooked work from pioneering British social documentary photographer Roger Mayne; and ‘Cathedral of the Pines’, a major exhibition by American photographer Gregory Crewdson, which will be the first time the gallery has ever dedicated all three floors of its exhibition space to one photographer.

Margaret_ Co-founder and Head of Arts & Culture, Emma Pettit says, “Publicizing photography work in all its diverse forms is one of Margaret’s true passions and to be appointed as the Photographers’ Gallery’s dedicated agency is both exciting and a real honour. Leading with PR, we bring the unique experience of Margaret’s team across the Comms spectrum to the retainer, from publicity and social media consultancy, to partner engagement and influencer work.”

Natasha Plowright, Director of Communications, the Photographers Gallery, says, "Margaret offer a wealth of experience and an impressive, broad and distinctive knowledge of contemporary culture, which we felt perfectly supported the vision and ambitions of the Photographers’ Gallery. Our programme and activities aim to explore photography in all its forms and provide a wide- reaching platform for new talent and new thinking around image culture – especially in the digital age. We are delighted to be working with them and believe their expertise and insight will prove invaluable.”
