BRITISH ARROWS ANNOUNCE CHAIR & JURY FOR CRAFT 2016
2016 is a landmark year for British Arrows. The awards in March celebrated 40 years of advertising excellence; this November, CRAFT will celebrate 20 years of championing and awarding the innovation, bravery and artistry of those who craft moving images in advertising.
British Arrows has named Sally Campbell, founding partner of Somesuch, as the chair of this year’s jury.
Charlie Crompton, chairman of the board, comments, “This is a year for change. Sally has an extraordinary reputation for creative excellence and continues to show a true appreciation of how craft is at the forefront of British advertising and has used her considerable talent to curate one of the most diverse and relevant juries we’ve ever seen.”
Commenting on how she approached her role of choosing her jury, Campbell says, “Exceptional craft is the basis on which Somesuch is built so it is not only a massive honour to chair the British Arrows Craft jury, it is also something I feel very strongly about and I hope it shows in the jury I have agonised over curating the past few months.”
Campbell continues, “I'm very proud of the group of people that have accepted the role, from exceptionally talented and experienced ad people to exceptionally talented people from very modern platforms. I really hope the entries are as diverse as the jury.”
Since CRAFT began in 1996, technology and media have changed beyond all recognition but the essential aspects of craft have remained constant. Talent, dedication, innovation, and professionalism have never gone out of fashion and it is these skills that British Arrows CRAFT honour each year.
Aware of an ever changing landscape British Arrows has also re-crafted the categories & definitions to ensure they now reflect the true picture of craft skills today. Eight new categories include ‘Writing,’ ‘VR/360,’ ‘Animation: character/photoreal/experimental,’ ‘Motion graphics,’ ‘Re-record,’ and ‘Student commercial.’
Multi award winner and 2016 CRAFT juror Anthony Moore, founding partner & creative director at Factory, says, “For me, British Arrows is absolutely vital in celebrating the amazing talent that is abundant within our industry.”
Joe Bagnall, head of film at Lucky Generals comments, “To win at British Arrows CRAFT you have to love what you do. The award is an amazing piece of recognition to be proud of and I am truly proud to receive this request to be on the jury.”
The full jury list, headshots and personal comment from each juror can be found on the British Arrows website.
