ACCENT MEDIA APPOINTS CUBITT CONSULTING

Cubitt Consulting has been appointed as corporate and financial communications adviser to Accent Media Limited, owner of the ‘.tickets’ top level domain [“TLD”].

Accent Media has already sold domains to hundreds of well-known brands including Google, Ticketmaster, eBay, Manchester United F.C., Apple and the entire Major League Baseball franchise only weeks after making ‘.tickets’ domain names available to rights-holders.

Accent Media, founded by British entrepreneurs Steve Machin and Gary Fisher in 2012, secured the rights to the ‘.tickets’ TLD in February 2015 following an intensive three-year application process during which substantial funding was raised from a portfolio of international investors. The ‘.tickets’ domain names are currently available only to pre-registered trademark holders in a so called ‘sunrise period’. The names will become generally available to vetted businesses, innovators and entrepreneurs from 14 September via the registrar network including http://www.tickets.domains.

The London-based start-up also plans to bring generic category domains to market such as concert.tickets, train.tickets and theatre.tickets. These present a particularly attractive commercial prospect for leading brands and investors, and will transform the way that tickets are bought and sold online. Accent Media will itself incubate some of these brands in joint venture partnership with some of the world’s leading brands.

Cubitt Consulting will provide corporate communications, financial communications and media relations advice to support the growth and development of Accent Media internationally.

Steve Machin, Co-CEO of Accent Media, says, “’.tickets’ is going to transform the way tickets are bought and sold online. Our unique rights protection mechanism and vetting process will make ‘.tickets’ the gold standard for consumers to purchase tickets with confidence.”

Gary Fisher, Co-CEO of Accent Media, says, “We are confident that Cubitt, with its start-up and technology expertise, will help us realise our transformative vision for the world of ticketing.”

Simon Brocklebank-Fowler, executive chairman of Cubitt, says, “Cubitt is delighted to be working with Accent Media: it is a pioneering UK company which is destined to lead innovation in both the ticketing and domain industries.”
